How can I assign a Jira learning course to team members?

Hello!

I am working on developing my team's skills in Jira as their project manager. I would like to assign members courses to complete. Is there a way to do this through Atlassian Learning or do I need to add the link to a work item? I'd like to be able to confirm the courses are actually completed.

That's a fantastic initiative as a project manager to invest in your team's Jira skills.

Atlassian University (the official learning platform for Atlassian products) is primarily designed as a self-service learning portal. This means:

• There isn't a built-in feature within Atlassian University that allows you, as a project manager, to "assign" a course to specific team members and then directly track their progress or completion status through the platform itself.
• Each user's progress and completed courses are tied to their own Atlassian account. They can see their own achievements, but you cannot view your team members' individual progress unless they explicitly share it with you.

Workaround:

Assign Courses via Jira Work Items:

• For each course or learning path you want your team to complete, create a Jira task or story.
• Assign the task to the relevant team member(s).
• In the task description, provide the direct link to the Atlassian University course.
• Add a due date to encourage timely completion.

This approach gives you visibility and ensures accountability, even without a direct "assignment" feature from Atlassian University itself.

Thank you for responding. Assigning training as a task isn’t ideal, but I agree it’s a good work around. From experience with other project management software, I see great benefits for a team having the option to choose self-service or assigning training. I’d like to see this as a feature added in the future.
