How can I change the search results colours?

I want to change my search results colour. I cannot locate the option under "Look and Feel". The current colour is an awful yellow (see attached sample).

It doesn't look like the file attached...is the text in question that of the quick search results (that drop down when using the search bar in the upper right hand corner) or the page text on the full search results page. Changing the "link colour" should make the change...though it sounds like you may have already tried that. Are you running a display customizing plugin? Can you attach a screenshot?

I can't seem to attach my image (.jpg). I clicked the browse box and selected my file but nothing is happening.

I changed the link colour but it didn't work. I am not using a display customizing plugin. The text in question is the page text on the full search results page. Most of my yellow fields are my custom fields. I thought about using html tags on the options in the custom field configuration screens. Even my free text comment field is yellow.

Try to attach the file via common photo sharing site like Photobucket and the likes.
