How can I get a breakdown of completed vs. incomplete issues for multiple epics for reporting?

I am an administrator at my firm for Jira - we're attempting to create a report, dashboard, or query that displays the breakdown of completed vs incomplete issues for around 15-20 of a project's epics. The goal is to get the big picture (pun intended) of X amount complete vs X amount incomplete in one cohesive area/list for these epics.

I've created a filter that properly pulls the associated issues and attempted to use gadgets to create the data we need, but nothing displays the breakdown of the complete vs. unresolved stories per epic. The Epic Report displays everything we need to know, but only for a single epic at a time - since there's hundreds of epics in the project, we'd prefer not to refer leadership to search through the list for each of the 15-20 epic reports.

Is there a gadget that can be utilized to display this type of information, a way to create a series of Epic Reports for the desired list of epics, or any alternate solutions anyone can assist me with?

Appreciate it!

Hi @Krista Nicol

here's another app that you might like: JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing and inline-editing all your issue fields. You can also view your issues in their parent/child-relationships, group them by one or more issue fields, and calculate "sum-ups" across these groups.

What you could do is,

  • Create a JXL "sheet" based on JQL query that includes your epics and any possible child issues; don't worry about the parent/child relationship; JXL will sort this out for you.
  • In JXL, enable the default issue hierarchy (that's just one click), or combine issue hierarchy with various groupings.

Depending on your exact needs, you can now add any fields that you are interested in and chose from different sum-ups styles (simple "sum" vs. status bar vs. etc. etc.)

This is how this look in action:

If needed, you can also easily export your sheet to Google Sheets/Excel for further processing.

Hope this is useful,

Best,

Hannes

Hi @Krista Nicol ,

This is something Pivot Report we develop was created for:

This demo report is available by this link, feel free to play around (no login required).

Parts of the report like Summary table on the top could be displayed as a gadget.

If needed, please ping me, so we can arrange a call and go over your request in detail.

Hi @Krista Nicol

I suggest you look into reporting plugins in the marketplace.

Here is an example of using eazybi: https://eazybi.com/accounts/1000/cubes/Issues/reports/844993-issue-epic-hierarchy
