Actually, JIRA Agile will not count sub-tasks in. What I advise is to move them up one level. For instance, change issues to epics and sub-tasks to issues. This way you will be able to manage them in a more feasable way.
I'm afraid you can't.
The principle is simple - you don't need to rank subtasks, so you don't need to see them in the backlog. They only matter within the context of their parent, so you can open that and see them there, but there's no need for them in the backlog.
