Hi, we are looking to use JIRA within our company. We are an accounting team that has a time plan that is currently in excel for out monthly closing schedule. It has tasks that are assigned to each colleague. We do this spreadsheet monthly with the same filters. I was wondering if we could use JIRA to create a template that we could use monthly without having to recreate a brand new one each time. Thankyou

Hi John. I have read your article and understand that I can clone a monthly plan. However as I am new to JIRA, I am yet to make a monthly plan. We have one that we use on excel but are trying to navigate JIRA in order to use it rather than excel.
Please would you be able to explain to me how to create a timeplan on JIRA ?
This is what we would like to achieve (Image inserted below of the categories - then each task will be assigned to each of our colleagues)

That looks like a combination of custom fields and statuses. You should have clear process that you want to achieve, and identify the fields you need populated to relay information.

Hello luci,
from what im understanding you have a set amount of tasks assigned to each colleague that is repeated every month. My suggestion would be to create an epic with all the tasks that are needed assigned to the people whos repsonsible for it and with the data filled into the fields you need. Then you can clone this epic and start with the month september for example and then set up an automation that each month clones the epic once more and you can repeat your cycle. You just change the summary of the epic to be able to distinguish the months from each other and youre good to go. If you have any more questions on this and how to set this up feel free to ask.

Hello Luci, you can do so by simply pressing the create button in the top bar and then select epic as an issue type in the create mask that opens.

Hi Henning,
I have tried to create an epic then used child issues to create separate tasks but I am not sure I am achieving what I have in mind.
This is the template headings that we use in excel and I am trying to replicate it on JIRA ?
Thankyou very much.

hello,
maybe i thought what you wanted to achieve was more complex than it is.
I just thought this way you could assign the tasks to different people if u want it all displayed in the same issue id advise you to add customfields with the names in your excel chart and then add them to your issue.
