Greetings,
I am trying to automate:
Subtask #1 linked to Subtask #2 ----> Transitions parent issue from "to do" to "in progress"
When both are "done"
Subtask #3 linked to Subtask #4 ----->Transitions parent issue from "in progress" to "done"
When both are "done" AND Sub task #1 & #2
Business usage case:
I would like to automate the status of the parent issue (client) to change when the some to the subtasks are complete. The parent has 5 status. There are twenty subtasks, first three, change the parent status + the next 4 further change the status etc.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but you could do a count of subtasks on Done inside that Parent and have the automation transition from that count.
See rule example
Trigger > Issue transitioned to Done
Condition > Issue type equals Sub-task
Action > Lookup issues with the JQL: "Parent" = {{issue.parent}} AND status = Done (The {{ssue.parent}} is for getting all subtasks inside the parent from the current subtask)
After the action, you will need to insert an IF-ELSE block
IF Block > Advanced Compare Condition
First value: {{lookupIssues.size}}
Equals
Second value: 3
BRANCH > for Parent
Inside the branch add an Action > Transition issue to In progress
Just repeat the IF-ELSE BLOCK changing the Second value to 5, for example and add the branch for parent to transitioned the parent for Done
With this rule, every time a subtask is Done, Jira it will count how many sub-tasks are done inside the parent and will send the parent for In progress or Done according the second value number.
This is a way to do this, let me know if you have any question or need something different.
