We're just starting out with Jira and created a new "Bug tracking" project. We have a number of tickets (Feature Requests) to import into the system as a start and we've managed to map most fields with the exception of a field we have that contains a list of customers (for our records) that have requested the feature. This is different and distinct to the "Reporter" field in Jira, and anyway I believe that field can only accommodate one person(?).
We can't seem to find a place to store the list of customers. It's just plain text. We don't want Jira to automatically notify these customers and we definitely don't want them to have accounts in Jira. It's just a running plain-text list of customers that we may inform about the new feature if/when it's actioned/released.
The best idea I could come up with was to just add them to the top of the description field, but it doesn't seem to search well especially if it contains email addresses. We'll add it to the top of the description field a last resort if no one here has any better idea. For example:
Description
Requested by:
- Customer A
- Customer B
- Customer C
Description of Feature X
Many thanks for your advice.
hi @Steven George,
Welcome to the community!
Is it possible to create a multi-line text custom field "requested by" then import the information in there?
This would allow you to import the list into a filed that gives you the list of the customers that requested the feature.
Let me know if I'm understanding correctly or if this helps.
Thanks Patrick. We'll try that approach. Appreciate your advice.
