How do I add a component to an existing Jira request?

I created a Jira request with my Dev team but forgot to add Component and Incident fields. Could you please help me add component and Incident fields to the existing request. I don't see as an option to add it to the existing request. Thanks!

Hi @Baba Khalender Shaik ,

Welcome to the Atlassian community !!

I understand you wanted to set components and some fields on existing Jira request. It is possible to set these values on existing request also, but it depends on how screens are configured on your project/issuetype.

For every Jira request, we have 3 types of screes:

  • Create Screen
  • Edit Screen
  • VIew screen

So you need to check with your project/Jira administrator to verify if they have placed Components and incidents fields on edit screen. I believe they already configured those fields on create screen that is why you are able to set values on these fields while creating the issues.

But once issue is created, you need to edit the issue to set some values on fields. So check with your admins if those fields are available on Edit screen.

Additionally you would need Edit issue permission on your project.
