How do I add a custom field to the list view in my project?

I have created a short text custom field in my project.  I would like this field to display as a new column in the list view for my project, however when I search for the field to add it to the view, it does not display as an option.

When you say list view, is this the view you're reaching under the URL <your-jira-site>.atlassian.net/jira/software/c/projects/XXX/issues?

Are you in the same project in which you've created the custom field?

Hi @Nicola and welcome to the community! 

I'd suggest checking whether the custom field is associated with the appropriate screens. You can customize add or remove fields only if the field is available in your project.
