Hasnat Bokhari July 11, 2018

Hi,

I have created new Group and added users to that group.

But, How to edit/assign permissions to that 'Group' ? When I Click edit > Group01, it does not show me any permissions to select.

I want to create group which can access only 1 project in Jira..!!

Please help. Thanks in Advance

Hi Hasnat,

You need to use Permission Scheme. As best practices gives permission "Browse project" in the permission scheme to a role and then, in your project administrations, put the groups you want to view this project in the that role.

I have created a group 'ABC' and have created a 'Scheme' as well.

How to assign that scheme to that particular group/user in group?

Things are very complex in JIRA administration, Is there any video available which can help me do this?.

Requirement: I just want to give permission to a user so that he can only see 'ONE' project out of many.

Hasnat, permission schemes are associated to a project, not a group. Check jira guides:

Permissions are done in the projects.  Your project is configured to use a particular permission scheme.  A good practice in Jira is to have permission schemes that are mostly based on "Give permission X to ROLE Y", so that admins can add people or groups to the role.

To create a group that only has access to one project, the theory is simple - use permission schemes across your Jira that allow "Browse project" to the right roles, such as "User", then for your one project, add that group to "user" and do not add it to any other roles.

I have created group 'A' and made a copy of permission scheme 'Y' and remove the permission to 'Browser Project'. I have only one user in 'A'.

Now I am stuck how do I associate that permission scheme 'Y' with group 'A' ?

Hasnat,

Go to Systems --> Global permissions -->

1. You can add permissions to groups or edit the jira permissions.

2. If you create a group, you can only edit membership. The rest is done in option 1.

Hope this helps.
