I have accidentally created 3 duplicate epics and need to know how to delete two of them. Do i need a particular level of access or control of the JIRA board/project to do this?
Hi @Samantha.McEwen-Rolph and welcome to the Community,
you need the "Delete issue" permission in the specific project. If you are the project admin, you can check the current permission scheme under Project settings > Permissions. Otherwise you'll need an Admin to assist.
If you cannot find a "Delete" option in the issue view (should be under more / ...), you probably don't have the correct permission.
You could always just move them to "Done"/"Closed" or whatever your last status is called, unless that messes up any metrics/reports.
Go to the board or project where the epic is located then Click on the epic you want to delete to open its details page.Look for the ellipsis (three dots) icon located at the top right corner of the epic's details page then Click on the ellipsis icon to reveal a dropdown menu. From this menu, select "Delete"
JIRA will usually prompt you to confirm the deletion. Confirm that you want to delete the epic
Some JIRA instances may ask you to provide a reason for deleting the epic. Enter a brief explanation if required.Once confirmed, the epic will be permanently deleted from JIRA
