How do I display 'Time in Status' on a Kanban board?

I am trying to configure the data field 'Time in Status' to show on a Kanban board. I have the 'days in column' configured on my board settings on the 'card layout' tab. I also have [CHART] Time in Status configured as a field to add to the cards, as seen here: Screen Shot 2019-02-04 at 1.23.03 PM (2).png

The issue is, the data field DOES show up on the cards, but all are displayed as 'none', as seen here (circled in red):

I guess my question is, how do I get that data field to display "xx amount of days" on the cards where none is shown, instead of the dots the 'days in column' option provides just below?

I have to say this is the part that is destined to finally move me away from JIRA: having to buy $$$ plug-ins for features that should be built in!

It never ceases to fail: I need to do something with Jira, and... gotta buy a plug-in.  Sorry, but my company isn't going for it and the looks I get when I bring it up.  Always the same.

Isn't the money we spend on Jira enough?  Apparently not.

This is where JIRA is really starting to show its age and inability to meet the needs of its end-users.

So then why is this even an option in the field?  I really hate this about Atlassian.  You have all these fields to choose from but rarely any of them work or you have to buy a special add-on for them.  Such a rip off.

Hello @Ian

I suggest you take a look at the original Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira by OBSS. Our app does exactly what you need

  • Our app creates reports on how much time each issue spent on each status, assignee or user group.
  • Number of time each status or transition was used.
  • View durations in days, hours, minutes, etc.
  • Include issue fields in your report.
  • Export data as CSV, XLS or XLSX.
  • Calculate time averages, grouped by multi level issue fields that you select.
  • Define your own business calendars.

We now have Server, Data Center and Cloud options.

Hello @Ian Evans

You can do it this with the add-on Time in status for Jira Cloud by SaaSJet. It's a good tool to make sure your projects are running on time.

This plugin automatically brings to users such information as:

- time spent on each status

- avarege time in status by each issue

- time that a particular assignee was assigned to each issue

- time when every issue entered to each of the statuses for the first time.

- how many times an issue has been in each status and went from status to status

- sums the time a task was in each status at a particular date

You can view the data from all reports as tables or as charts. Each of them is available for export.
