I find the Jira's permission settings and project role settings extremely confusing. How do I assign Archive rights to allow specific users in my organization to Archive tasks from appearing in their project boards.
Ideally I'd like to assign this right to a Group of Team Leads. We are on Premium plan and ChatGPT says there is an Archive Task privilege but I cannot find that anywhere.
@Viva Chu Welcome to the Atlassian community
You need to ensure that the user has the proper project permissions. You can learn more here about archive permissions. https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/archive-an-issue/
Hi @Viva Chu
Do you want to archive tasks or just remove then from their board?
I hope this clarify things for you.
Kind regards,
Ana

Hello @Viva Chu ,
Good day! Welcome to Atlassian Community :)
Inorder to be able to archive issues/tasks in a project, a user should have 'Archive Work Item' permission on the concerned project.
You can navigate to the permission scheme ( settings -> Work items -> Permission Schemes ) which is associated with the concerned project and locate 'Archive Work items' permission and add users/user groups/roles accordingly.
Hope that helps :)
Thank you!

In a company-managed project there is an "Archive Issues" entry in a Permissions scheme - you'd want to edit which Role/Group is in there. (Settings > Work Items > Work Item attributes > Permissions schemes". Are you using a company-managed or team-managed project?
