We are in the process of hiding old projects in our instance of Jira. Some of these projects have an assigned lead who is no longer with the company.
For active projects I assign the new lead, for old hidden/archived projects I want to be able to remove the project lead. If I assign a current employee to be lead to an archived/hidden project I won't be able to deactivate that user if/when they leave the company.
I don't want to be reassigning project leads to old/unused/archived/projects in prepituity. Creating a user just for archived projects is just bad secuirty and we won't do that.
So how do I solve this? How can I make a project not require a project lead?
Did you ever get an answer to this? I have the same problem. In the interim, I created an internal account for "JIRA Admin" and have been assigning projects to this account and then created a project category as "Archive."
