How do I see how much work is assigned to my team?

My team works on a variety of projects. I use the Rapid Board in GreenHopper to manage the priorities of their work, but I don't have a way to tell how many estimated hours of work they have or how long they will take (e.g. fix version).

I think what I would like to see is a Gantt chart that uses the priority of the tasks and displays them across time, e.g.:

time ->

user a | Task A | Task B (long task is bigger) | Task C |

user b...

Is there anything that exists that will show me this information or does anyone have suggestions on other ways to determine how backlogged my team is?

Since Rapid Board uses story points, I guess a Hour Burn Down is currently not available. If you are using GreenHopper planning (not using Rapid Board) this is possible. But in that case, it is per project basis.

Also please check the Time Tracking/User Workload/Version Workload reports, whether it gives the information you are looking for. Most of them are again per project basis. The 'User Workload' can use a Filter and it can span across projects and you can tune the filter to include what kind of issues and versions you are looking for in the report.

Renjith,

Thanks for your response. I've taken a look at those reports before, but as you mention, most of the reports are specific to projects. The user report gives an overall number, but that isn't quite the level of detail I'm looking for.

What I would like is for when my manager says "what is your team working on?", I could show him a breakdown of what my team is planning to do and when it will get done.

The Planning Board in JIRA sort of accomplishes this; however, it still requires you to look per version. It wouldn't nearly as quick to get the same kind of data.

The answer "what is your team working on?", wont it be sufficient to have a filter created with the appropriate projects and assignees, and customize the column order to include 'Remaining Estimate'? This could be added to a Dashboards, along with a few gadgets showing statistics across projects,components.versions and assignees. I guess the Manager should get satisfied with this.

That would show me the backlog, but it won't show me when an issue will be completed unless I add up the days manually. It is very difficult to quickly gleem when any given issue is estimated to be completed.

I still think having a Gantt chart would be helpful, but I am leaning towards only using Fix Version to indicate priority.
