How do I sort issues in Jira backlog and sprint?

I want to sort on various fields, like bugs / issue type, epic or assignee. I want to be able to change these sorts for various reasons in a meeting or conversation. 

Is there a way to do this? 

I use Jira cloud.

You have to adjust the board filter to change the sort order (which is clunky and slow to do) and you will lose the ability to rank them.

If your board is built using a Saved Filter (hint: highly recommend) then you can go to a Query window and load your Saved Filter and sort how you like.  But don't save your Filter or the changes will persist to your Board and can negatively impact it.
