How do i define a starting date for a task or an issue?

How do I define a starting date for a task or an issue?

I can define a due date for a task or an issue, but I do not see any option to define a starting date for the issue or task.

Please suggest a way to assign a starting date for a issue or task as I would like to define a date when a member should start working on a pre defined task, in cases when the task has a dependancy which needs some pre known amount of time to complete.

Is there a way or should I post a feature request for it? and wait for next release?

That's not how most development projects work in Agile (which is roughly what Jira is aimed at), so it's not a system function, and probably never will be.

However, it's a doddle to implement - add a custom field of "start date".
