How do you associate an already created Epic with a version?

How do you associate an already created Epic with a version? I have a version set up, then two Epics and some backlog items. The backlog items are being associated with the Epic's but the Epic's are not associated with the version. 

I've tried to change "fix versions" and assigning it there in the Epic but they still appear opaque and don't appear to be connected in my backlog.

Would you please post an image of what you are seeing when you try to edit and assign the Fix Version to the epic?
