How do you configure the "release type" field?

Hi all,

Been using JIRA for a few years but certainly not an admin :)

We are on JIRA cloud.

Specific question:

How can you configure the values for the "release type" field?

I can find the find the field but editing allows me to set a description but not the values - it currently only has "Change".

Context:

We basically want to add more info on release steps and type for each item, e.g. release steps & whether this is code deploy, config etc.  Essentially we want to differentiate config from code, so we can quickly see items delivered via config changes.  We thought "release type" was perfect for this but can't see how to edit the values...

I'm sure many people know how to edit "release type" or perhaps a better way to achieve this ...

Your release type is already a custom field, I think.

Go to the custom field list, find it, and click on "configure" instead of "edit" - that will take you to the list of options for it, if it is a select list.

p.s. we know we can just create a custom field for this.  If that's the way to achieve it then happy to do this ...
