How do you show all tasks when using epic panel in Jira?

So I am using Jira and just started testing the Epic Panel. Right now it appears that my backlog does not show up unless it is associated to an epic panel in Jira. Is there a way to have only some issues associated to an epic story and others not? If others are not is there a way to view the entire list of everything whether they are associated to an epic story or not. Right now I have to click on each epic to see what issues are there, it is not giving me a full list.

If you don't click any epics (on the left bar), then the backlog will not be filtered. If you have already associated issues with epics, you will still be able to are them altogether.
