I have to manage the piece of work defined in the single epic. I'd like to be able to create sprints within this epic. Is that possible? They all have to be tagged to this one particular epic.
Additionally I have Administrator rights to my product and from the board view I see "create sprint" greyed out with a comment that I need the Manage Sprints permission for all projects in the origin board to create a sprint. That board consists of one project which I have administration rights for.
I'm not sure I understand your setup and exactly what you want to achieve, but sprints are not created in epics. Both sprints and epics belong to projects. The issues in an epic can be linked to different sprints.
This is where I add sprints:
> Projects > [your project] > Planning > [your board] > Backlog
In the same view (filter on epic if there are many and you need to focus on one), I add the issues in the epic to the sprints in the same project.
Actually, sprints do not belong to projects.
They are created from boards (which can be looking at many projects), but do not belong to a board either - a sprint can appear in many boards, when issues the boards select for are in the sprint.
