Is the data on the history tab of an issue lost after a certain amount of time or after a certain amount of data is reached? If so, what is the retention period?
The history actually retains. I've seen history of an issue from 6 years ago. One good example for this is Atlassian Bug ticket - JRACLOUD-1369 This was created in 2003. And you can see the history goes all the way to 2003. So I don't think history will ever gets removed, unless the issue was imported from CSV or any third party tools,
