Hi everyone,
I'm setting up a recurring rule in Automation for Jira to clone a task template every day, including all its subtasks.
So far, I've managed to clone the main task issue, but I haven't found a native way to automatically clone its subtasks as part of the same automation flow.
Has anyone faced a similar scenario and could share an alternative solution or a working setup that allows cloning a task with all its subtasks using Jira automation?
Appreciate any help or insights—thank you in advance!

hi, @Lara Sousa !
If you are open to considering third-party solutions, there might be a simpler way to clone your task with its subtasks.
You can try Smart Templates. This tool can save any work item with all its child issues as a template, and then you can generate tasks from this template on a schedule. Pros: you can reuse complex multi-level task hierarchies, and the scheduled auto-generation doesn't consume your Automation for Jira limits. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to help!

Hi @Lara Sousa
One of Automation complexities is that it often requires several rules for a single use case. As an alternative, you can try our app Elements Copy & Sync to automatically clone a task and its subtasks. It's quick to configure and everything can be set up in the same configuration rule.
Don't hesitate to check the documentation.
The app is for free during 30 days (and it stays free under 10 users).

Hi @arielei ☺️, If you're open to using a third-party app for your cloud instance, I think Templating.app could be a good alternative as well.
You can find us at the Atlassian Marketplace ➡️ https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1224664

Hi @Lara Sousa
If you're looking to automatically clone a task along with all its subtasks daily, and are willing to use a Marketplace app, our app Deep Clone for Jira provides a straightforward solution. While Jira's native automation doesn't fully support subtask cloning directly, Deep Clone integrates with Jira Automation, enabling you to:
