We need some further predefined Informations in the system field "Description"
- Are there other possibilities than the context configuration?
- Or how can we access the context configuration, if the necessary fields are missing or inactiv?
According to the articles
this should be possible by the configuration of the contexts. But the context column is only shown in black instead of the blue styl for configuration. Also the button "Add context" ist missing and the "Actions" - menue offeres only the mask-configuration, nothing about "context and default values"
-> That was exactly the source of our first, existing modifications and was very easy to extend! :)
Never the less thanks for all the other good tips, helped a lot an were interesting to know!

Hi Christian,
What is your Jira version? Also, do you have a Server or a Data Center license?
Please note that the option is available starting with Jira 8.16 and only if you have a Data Center license.

Ioana

Hi Ioana,
and thank you for the information. We have 8.16.1 and a Server, but somehow the colleague before me managed to get a predefined entry/context introduced
Do you know, how it could be checked out, how that was done? Or what kind of configuration it is?
Best Regards,
Christian

Hi Christian,
I am not sure how your colleague did it.
Some time ago when it was not possible at all to set default values to system fields, I used the following workaround:
Another option would be the Behaviors functionality of the ScriptRunner plugin.
You can find here an example of how this plugin can help with setting up a default value for the Description field: https://scriptrunner.adaptavist.com/5.6.6/jira/behaviours-overview.html#_setting_a_default_description
Hope this helps.
Ioana

Thank you very much, both options seem quite interesting! Further more the Jira-Support - after checking out the Issue with Server instead of Data Center found also this temporary solution, which we´ll check out first now: Setting a Default Value in the Description Field | Jira | Atlassian Documentation
