I am working with JIRA software on a standard package. I am not seeing the usual configuration options that I can normally such as board settings where I can add additional fields to be displayed on the card on the board. Instead I can only add the first image added to the ticket (which doesnt seem particularly useful and just clutters the board but anyway)
I have configured my statuses and columns in a way that some columns contain more than one status. However, due to the fact that statuses seemingly do not show by default on the board, it is now hard to distinguish between tickets in a vertical column. For example, I have 'Ready for QA'/'In QA' and 'QA on hold' all in one column but now all the tickets just look to be in the same status when they are not... I would like to avoid having a column per each of these statuses if possible?
Can anyone help me to understand how I can get the status to show on the card please? Seems a pretty important piece of information to have .Thanks
Hi @jo_astley ,
is it possible that this project is a Team Managed project? Please check lower left corner. You will not see Board settings in TMP. However, if you've map multiple statuses to a single column, then you should see the two (or more) statuses delineated when you try to drag and drop a card into it as illustrated below. It behaves similarly in CMP projects.
One other thing to share. While column titles in boards often directly convey the mapped status, that is not always the case. I would suggest that if indeed you map multiple statuses to a single column, you should rename the column to more appropriately reflect the statuses underneath.

Thanks, yeah can see the statuses when go to drag and drop but when just looking at the board, need to know which tickets are in which status. Hence why I need the status on the card itself. I assume this isnt available in the version we have and multiple columns is the only answer? :(

Currently, in TMP software projects, yes the only option is to have separate columns. This may change in time. Here is an open suggestion labeled Future Consideration - JSWCLOUD-17336 Ability to customize the fields shown on cards in team-managed projects (backlog + board)
In CMP software projects you can add Status to the cards as @Bhanu KN illustrates. Also, for JWM projects you can add various fields to the cards as well.

sounds good. Here is a guide to this - migrate-between-team-managed-and-company-managed-projects
Carefully consider any custom feels that you might have to ensure they come over as expected. I highly recommend moving over a few test issues until you get everything the way you want.

Really useful, thank you for the link! Glad to see much wont be lost moving them to a company managed project providing the set up is correct. Anyone else trying to do this, if moving from a company managed to team managed, be warned you could lose quite a bit of info. Thanks again Jack :)

This solution applies to Team Managed Projects, not Company Managed Projects.
For Company Managed Project, try the following:
Click upper-right 3 dots menu and select "Configure Board"
Select "Card Layout" in there and add or remove field you desire.
In the "Active Sprint" section, add "Status".
Note: you can select 3 fields max
So, for ex: I've added: Story Points, Labels, Status

Hi @jo_astley ,
You can navigate to board settings > card layout and add status.
After adding, the issue cards on the board should appear something like this:
The provided screenshots are from a scrum board on cloud deployment. It should work for Kanban too :)
