How to assign an "Re-Opened" status to a "completed" issue?

I have an older version of JIRA - v6.3.14.   I have accidentally marked a task as "completed".  How can I re-assign this task to a different status (either In-Progress or Re-opened)?  I have tried editing the workflow, but the workflow does not allow me to add any transitions to the status "Completed".

@OrdinarySoulIf you  are Jira admin  you  should be able to add new transition (re-open)  to  status  in progress  without any problems.

You are correct that you would need to add a transition from completed to the status you would like to place it in.  I know that transitions cannot be added to certain statuses when in active mode even when in draft.  Make a copy of the workflow and see if you can make the change then.  After you make the change you will just need to apply the copied workflow to the workflow scheme and you should be good to go.
