How to cc someone on JIRA?

I can only select 1 assignee when assigning a JIRA ticket. However, I'd also like to be able to cc the manager of said assignee. Currently, what I do is select the assignee, then in the "activity" section, i type "cc: @[person i want to cc]" so that they can get a notification too.

Is there any way to automate this? Whereby when we assign it to an assignee, their manager would automatically be cc-ed too?

Thank you for your question. Currently, Jira only allows assigning a single user to a ticket. However, automating the process of notifying the manager is possible. You can set up an automation rule that triggers when an issue is assigned to a specific user, and the rule will automatically notify their manager.

You can share the following steps with your Jira support rep to set up the automation:

1. Go to Project Settings > Automation.
2. Click Create Rule.
3. Select Issue Assigned as the trigger.
4. (Optional) Add a condition to target specific assignees if needed.
5. Add the action Send Email and set it up to notify the manager using smart values or the manager’s email.
6. Save and test the rule.
