We started our Kanban board by using a previously created WorkFlow. Now we need to change the Status names to match our columns intents. IT gave us permission to edit / change Status names but we cannot figure out how to edit the Status names. It won't let us change the names.
Hi Dan,
Do you know if it was a 'next-gen' or 'classic' project they set up for you?
If it's classic you may be using a shared workflow so changing status names would impact other projects. Something to be wary of
I believe it is a Classic Project. We used a workflow from a colleagues kanban board shown below and then modified our columns.
Thanks for the info. How would I know if it was a Next-gen project?

Hi Dan,
You project is not a Next-Gen project because you are on server and NG is only on Cloud. Cheers!

Hi Dan,
Renaming statuses is something Jira Administrators can perform, but must be cautious about because it will change the status name for all projects/workflows that use that status. I'm assuming by "IT gave us permission to edit / change Status names but we cannot figure out how to edit the Status names" that IT granted Extended Project Permissions, which does not allow editing of existing status names and comes with other restrictions. Work with a Jira Administrator to rename, or better yet replace, the status. Cheers!

Hi Joshua, thanks for the information. We are new to using this SW so all your comments are appreciated. We will end up keeping the status' the way they are. Our board works for moving issues around through the columns to completion. We were just hoping to clean up things a bit.
Thank you,
Dan
