×I didn't completely get your question, but if you are looking at ordering of issues for your planning, Greenhopper you can use. Or Structure plugin.
If you are looking at automatically ordering your filter results based on a custom behaviour, then you may need to create a custom field plugin which dynamically decides the ranking based on the other fields of the issue and you can use in your filter to sort based on this field.

Set the filter sorting based on Status column twice so that is the sorting is as per your requirement.

Our tickets always have a status like 'open', 'closed', 'in progress'.
We're using a lot of different custom stati for different workflows. When we order in a list view the ordering is not what we'd like to have. We'd like to set a certain order in which the stati are displayed. Eg. first 'open' then 'in progress' then 'closed'

What do you mean by displayed order? Are you referring to filters?
