Hello @Assem E
In the text of your question you asked about Jira Data Center v9.12. However the tags on your post say your deployment type is Cloud, which means Jira Cloud - the software-as-a-service product where Atlassian hosts the application.
Are you using Jira Data Center or Jira Cloud?
@G subramanyam 's answer applies to Jira Cloud.
If you are using Jira Data Center...
1. What is the filter used to select issues for your scrum board? Does it include, or not exclude, the subtask type issues?
2. Can you provide screen images showing your backlog and your board and point out the parent issue that has a subtask that you think should be visible?
Based on my experience with Jira Data Center subtasks should show as cards on the Board view for a sprint, but will not show as separate items in the Backlog view.
Hi @Assem E welcome to the Atlassian community.
It's a common question for Jira users.
Subtasks are not considered independent, sprint-assignable items in the backlog. They are part of their parent issue. When viewing the backlog, you're usually focused on planning and prioritizing the larger work items (Stories, Tasks, Bugs, etc.).
To see the subtasks of a specific parent issue in the backlog, you typically click on the parent issue card, which will open the issue detail view where the subtasks are listed.
To show subtasks as individual cards on your Active Sprints board, you'll typically use the "Group By" option.
Navigate to your Scrum Board: Go to your project and select "Boards" (or "Active Sprints" directly).
Access Board Configuration:
On the right side of the board, look for the "Group by" dropdown.
Click on "Group by" and select "Subtask".
Note: In specific configurations (especially for Company-Managed projects vs. Team-Managed projects), the "Group by Subtask" option might not be immediately available or might behave differently, hence please recheck your:
