Hi!

Is it possible to copy a value over from a parent ticket to a subtask via post function or validator? Or any other way?

Ex: a Story issue on Project X has a custom field named 'Dev' with the value 'John Smith'. I'd like to for all created subtasks, henceforth, within this parent Story ticket to inherit/incorporate the value from the parent 'Dev' field into the subtasks automatically.

Attempt: I have created a post function in JSU on the create transition screen that applies to all subtasks. There, I set up the following "Copy Value From Other Field (JSU)" from 'Dev' to 'Dev'. I have tried using different settings with no luck: 'within same issue', 'Parent / Sub-Task' and others.

Any other ideas please? Is this even possible? Thanks.

Yes - do it all the time with the JSU app.  You have to specify From Parent to Issue in Transition (Must be Sub-Task)

Thanks Ed.

I am sure I have tried that option yesterday but now it is working as expected! Some setting might have been off or something.

Thanks again and have a good day!
