To delete both team-managed and company-managed business projects in Jira, follow these steps:

Deleting a Team-Managed Project

  1. Access Projects:

    • Go to Projects > View all projects.

  2. Move to Trash:

    • Find your team-managed project.

    • Click on the More (•••) menu next to the project.

    • Select Move to trash. A confirmation dialog will appear.

    • Confirm by clicking Move.

  3. Permanently Delete from Trash:

    • Go to Settings > Projects.

    • Select Trash from the sidebar.

    • Find your project in the trash.

    • Click on More (•••) next to the project and select Delete permanently 1.

Deleting a Company-Managed Project

  1. Access Projects:

    • Go to Projects > View all projects.

  2. Move to Trash:

    • Find your company-managed project.

Important Notes

  • Permissions: Only Jira administrators or users with the Administer Jira global permission can move projects to trash and permanently delete them.

  • Recovery: Projects in the trash can be restored within 60 days. After this period, they are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered 1.

Hi @b.campanale ,

If I got it right, you're trying to delete Jira (business) project?

You need to be Jira administrator in order to do so > you can follow the official instructions.

Basically, in the project list view, click on More actions > Move to trash, which will then send the project to the trash. If you wish to permanently delete the project you can navigate to Settings > Projects > Trash and perma. delete it there (or it will be automatically deleted after a certain number of days).

Hello @b.campanale ,

Good day, welcome to Atlassian Community

If I understand correctly, you want to delete a Business Project.

Now based on type of Project, for:

1. Company Managed project: You need to have Administer Jira Global Permission, and you can follow steps mentioned here to delete the project.

To move a project to trash:

  1. Choose Settings () > Projects.

  2. Find your company-managed project and select ••• > Move to trash. A confirmation dialog appears.

  3. Click Move.

Once moved to Trash, follow below steps:

To permanently delete a project:

  1. Choose Settings (), then Projects.

  2. Select Trash from the sidebar

  3. Find your company-managed project and select more actions (•••), then Delete permanently.

2. To delete a team managed Business project: You either need to have Administer Jira Global permission or Project admin role:

Steps mentioned here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/delete-a-team-managed-project/
