In JIRA, how do I remove the Notifications icon in the left sidebar? The bright red unread notifications count is incredibly distracting. I don't need the notifications panel since I receive all notifications via e-mail anyway.
Hello Ralf,
Right now, JIRA doesn't have a feature to remove the notification icon/panel from the left sidebar.
However, we've created a new feature request to our development team to add this feature.
As a user, I would like that the notification panel could be deactivated
I strongly recommend you to vote in this feature request and drop a comment to let the product management know about your use case. By doing this, it will ensure you're proactively informed of progress and updates going forward.
Please, note that all of feature requests are implemented following our Feature Request Policy.
Kind regards,
Douglas Braun
Hi Douglas,
Thanks for your answer. My team has got the notification icon disabled site-wide now via Atlassian Support since we all found it distracting. But I've voted for the request - I'm sure my team are not the only ones feeling this way.

Very annoying and distracting for people with OCD.

I got sick of waiting for Atlassian so I created a userscript that removes the notification icon. You'll have to tweak it for your company-specific domain to install it but it works great for me. https://yasmar.net/posts/remove-the-jira-notification-badge/
