How to enable version sync app on specific projects

Deleted user April 16, 2020

Hello all,

I see instructions on how to install the version sync app. I am however trying to determine how i can enable this app on specific projects only. Any help?

Or, once installed, will it get to populated to all projects?

Reason why i am asking this, i have this app displayed on few projects that i did POC a while ago. I am not seeing on other projects except by test ones.

Hi @[deleted] ,

I think I misunderstood your post at first.

Am I right that you want disable Version Sync for certain projects?

Unfortunately,  that's not possible at the moment.

It would be great if you could get in touch with us and tell us more about your use case. Since we're still working on updates, it might be possible to enhance our app for you.

No, I see this plugin available for some projects and not all projects. Last year when we installed this, it showed up on all projects and i have a done a POC to see how it works. It took a while for me to decide on next steps. This year when i am checking it now, i noticed this version sync app is only on the projects that i did my POC. This app is no longer displayed on any other projects. Not sure why or what happened. i thought once we install the app, it is there on all the projects.

Hi Marlene, I discussed with our JIRA admin team and they are looking into this forum as i type. They will either reach you or your support team.

On a separate note, when is your organization going to release component sync app for cloud version?

Hi Marlene, After some internal discussion, we figured what the issue is. This option shows up at the project level only when we link fixversions. Else, it will show under project settings. It all good now. Thanks for all your help!!!

Thank you very much for your reply, Sekhar! It is good to know that it works for you now.

If you have any feedback on how I could improve our onboarding/documentation to avoid that confusion for other customers, don't hesitate to share it with me here or via our support.

Regarding your questions about "component sync": Currently we don't plan to release a component sync app.

Hi @[deleted]

can you be a bit more specific about the app you use? Is it this Version Sync app from the marketplace?

Reading their documentation, I am guessing that you're not seeing it in some next-gen projects while you still see it for the other ones.

Note:If no versions are visible in your next-gen project, you have to activate “Releases and versioning” first: Project > Project settings > Features > Releases and versioning

For more details, you should probably ask their support.

I hope that helped,
Matthias.

Thank you Matthias. Yes, it is the version sync app from the market place.

Yes, i can see this app on some projects but not on all projects. Using the default releases module, I can create release versions on all projects

Hi @[deleted] , hi @Matthias Gaiser _K15t_ ,

I am the product manager of Version Sync for Jira.

Thank you for your reply and linking to our support, @Matthias Gaiser _K15t_ :)

@[deleted] , you should be able to see Version Sync on all projects. As Matthias mentioned, can you get in touch with our support?  We can have a more detailed look at your issue then.
