How to force a field to appear while changing the status for a ticket?

Meryam_assali March 24, 2019
Hello,

I am trying to configure my board and I need to force a field to appear while changing the status of my ticket from one status to another in Jira.
For example: my jira ticket is in To do status. While changing the status from To do to In progress, I want to have a mandatory field like « remaining date » to appear in order to be filled. Otherwise, the ticket won’t change the status until the remaining date is filled.

Thank you so much for your answer.
Best regards,
Meryam

Hi Meryem,

Welcome to the community.

The best way to do this is to add a transition screen to your workflow.

Create a screen with the custom field -> https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/add-a-custom-field-to-transition-screen-718834736.html

Then edit your workflow, and then add the screen to the transition -> https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/mapping-a-screen-to-a-workflow-transition-720634253.html

Let us know how you go :)

Thank you Jimmy for your answer.

It was utile.

Maybe I didn’t express well my needs but I was looking for a mandatory field that should appears while changing a ticket from a status to another.

I find a plugin to add a checklist validator into a  transaction but I couldn’t add it because it’s paid.

So I am looking for an alternative solution :(
