Hello Community,
I am cloning an issue from one project to another using the Automation feature. Currently, I am able to get all fields and attachments; however, I have not found a way to get all the linked issues. I mean ALL the linked issues, not just the clone link, which is not working either.
Scenario:
I am copying a Service Management Problem that has many 'caused by' Incident links that need to be replicated in the cloned ticket, which is being cloned into another Jira Project. Does anyone know how to:
1) Clone ALL links from the original ticket to the cloned ticket
2) Create a 'is cloned by' link
Thanks,
Edie
In case anyone else finds this question and needs an answer, Jira Automation now supports Linked Issues. Add the Linked Issues field in the Edit Issue as Copy from Trigger Issue. You should be all set.
@Edie Hovermale "Due to a lack of an available API for cloning issues, this action creates a new issue and copies across all of the fields that it can. Its status is then set to the first step of the corresponding workflow, and any resolutions from the original issue are cleared. However, as it is not a true clone, the cloned issue isn't linked to the original issue." https://confluence.atlassian.com/automation/actions-993924834.html
This is the reason that the links do not come over and you do not have an option for that. You could technically use this to create a link to the cloned issue https://confluence.atlassian.com/automationkb/automatically-link-issues-to-other-issues-with-automation-for-jira-1130727671.html

If you are willing to use a third-party app, our Deep Clone for Jira can clone all links, as long as you have selected the option when configuring the clone. It also creates an 'is cloned by' link by default.

Luka,
Can I use Deep Clone in Jira Automation? If so, can you give me an example or instructions on how to use Deep Clone in Jira Automation?
Thanks,
Edie

You can use Deep Clone by creating a Post Function Clone in a looping transition and then trigger the transition via Jira Automation.
You can read more on how to do that here.
