How to get a consolidated velocity chart across multiple projects

Daniel CJ September 1, 2020

Our team works on different application, for each of this application have created separate projects in Jira. Under each of this project, we create backlogs respective to the application and runs the sprint board individually, with respect to the project. Most of the times the whole team is allotted to multiple projects.

Is there any way to get a consolidated report/velocity report of the whole team from multiple sprints spread across the Multiple projects

Ok, I found the answer to my situation:

1. you need uncheck the Viewing options "Hide unrelated sprints". Than it will show the velocity for the sprints that did not originate on this board but have the same sprint.

2. make sure you have the field "Sprint" in each of the projects and that you select the sprint for each issue you want to display

It is possible. We have several teams that work different projects. For one it works to display the velocity charts (2 projects, 1 board) for the other team it does not work (2 projects, 1 board). Have not figured out the difference yet. If anybody could help?

You would think that Jira would be able to run a sprint spread across multiple projects, and then the velocity of the sprint would be easy to generate/calculate.  But Jira doesn't seem to allow that... I do like the idea of multiple projects, but I do not like the idea that sprints are tied exclusively to a project.
