Hi @Raj Sapale,

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

This chart doesn't show bottlenecks; it shows how long issues took along the flow, so it helps you identify outliers, those that took longer.

For determining the bottlenecks, it might be better to look at Jira's Cumulative Flow Diagram report available under each project.

You could also try an app from Atlassian Marketplace that provides such report or gadget. In case you want to try an app, our Great Gadgets app offers a Cumulative Flow Diagram gadget that is highly configurable and lets you display data by various criteria such as status, status category, board column, etc. See also this article.

In general, here's how you can interpret a CFD chart to identify bottlenecks/blockers:

Also, very useful can be a WIP Aging Chart gadget offered by the same app, which displays the issues by their age (configured as time since creation, time in current status, time in current column, etc) and lets you identify the issues that are stuck in the flow or take longer than expected.

Hope this helps.

Hi @Raj Sapale and welcome to the Community!

It will be easier to spot bottlenecks in your process by either:

  • just looking at the columns on your kanban board and setting WIP limits on columns. If the limit is surpassed, the column will be highlighted with a red background;
  • using the cumulative flow diagram linked to the board. If you see increasing gaps there between statuses, that may be a bottleneck as well.

The control chart is better at telling you about the overall lead / cycle times of your process and the stability of your overall flow of work.

Hope this helps!
