How to link all existing issues with identical custom field

Hello community,

I have a custom text field to store a part number related to each issue and I need to link all issues that have the same part number.

My automation to link the issues when the part number field is updated wasn't working properly in the last couple of weeks. I managed to fix it, but I have a whole bunch of issues that didn't get linked.

Is there a way to run an automation that will look at all the issues and link the ones that have the same part number in the custom text field?

I managed to create a manual trigger, but I need to run it from each individual issue. I would like to have one automation that does it for all issues in the project.

Yes, it is possible to create an automation rule that will look at all the issues and link the ones that have the same part number in the custom text field. You can use the "For transition" dropdown to tell Jira the column or status that updates the custom text field, and then choose to link the issues that have the same part number. However, you will need to set up this automation rule manually.
