Hello,
I am relatively new to Jira and have been playing around with it to help my team optimize their efficiency. We execute the same several projects every four months, so I am looking for a way to create an automation that allows us to replicate a full Hero Issue with all its linked Tasks and Subtasks and appear every 4 months on our Jira board.
Would anyone be able to help with advice for creating these automations?
Thank you!
Hello @Esther Nguyen
If you're seeking for an easier way to clone a a full hero with all its child issues, you can try our app Elements Copy & Sync that allows you to clone and sync a full hierarchy of issues with all their content (summary, description, custom fields, comments, attachments, etc).
You can check our guide here.
You can try the app for free during 30 days (and it stays free under 10 users).
Kind regards,
Clara
Hi @Esther Nguyen and welcome to the community!
If you are willing to try a third party app, you could use our app Deep Clone for Jira.
Deep Clone can clone your whole issue hierarchies with all its child issues and subtasks with its Epic/Tree Clone feature.
You can also use a Jira Automation to have the Epic/Tree Clone trigger every 4 months with a looping transition and a Deep Clone post function. You can read more on how to do that here.

Hello @Esther Nguyen
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
When you say "Hero" issue and its "linked Tasks", do you mean that Hero is a custom issue type you created? How are the Tasks linked to it? Can you show us a screen image example of a Hero issue with linked Tasks? Can you layout the entire structure for us?
How many Tasks are linked?
How many subtasks does each Task have?
Do all of these issues have unique information, or, for instance, do all the Tasks have identical Subtasks?

As @Luka Hummel - codefortynine indicated there are third party apps you can buy to satisfy the requirement. But you may also be able to use the native Automation Rules functionality for free to satisfy the requirement.
