How to make issues created before certain date invisible to group of users?

Abhijit Ganjare September 6, 2021

Hi, I have an unique case.

In the JIRA space, I have created user group for my organization and customer organization. Now Customer want to add third party to JIRA. I intend to create an JIRA group and add third party users, but I do not want earlier issues should be visible to third party users. that means, from today onwards third party users should able to see all issues but not the issues created before today. Is there any solution for this?

@Abhijit Ganjare  The simpler way would be to create an issue security scheme and restrict all the issues to required groups (Maybe use bulk edit). And for newly created groups set default security level to some open level so everyone can view it.

Thanks @ASHU TYAGI

How can I create issue security scheme and use mass edit to assign all existing issues to that security scheme?

@ASHU TYAGI

I have created issue security scheme and defined two levels of security- Default and <special>. I have also changed default security level to "Default" (which I intend to use for all new issues that will be created from now on and all project users will be able to see it). I have not included any group or users in "Default" Security level.

For <Special> security level, I have added self and customer organization and not third party organization.

1) Next, I will assign all existing issue to <Special> so that third party organization will not be able to see existing issues (created before today) but my organization and customer organization can see it.  Is my understanding correct?

2) Also, from now whoever creates issue, it will be have "default" security level and everyone included in the project can see it. correct?

3) Can you also tell how I can assign individual issue to <Special> security level. ?

@Abhijit Ganjare  In default security level assign everyone whom you want to make your issues visible.

In short user/group/roles who has access to security level can only see that issue (nobody else)

By default it someone do not set security level then it is set to your Default security level.

Their is a field known as "Security Level" which needs to be set accordingly to restrict its visibility
