How to measure the time an issue is flagged for?

Hi all,

We use things like the Control Chart and the Time in Status plugin quite extensively to measure our progress (including cycle time, etc).  One of the things we do is instead of having a blocked status, we use the "Flag as impediment" feature, however there does not seem to be any way to measure how long issues are impeded for, which seems like quite an important and useful statistic.

Does anyone have any solutions or do we need to revert back to using a Blocked status, which makes it harder to determine what state the issue came from (and technically is still in).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, @Rob Manger

Custom Field and Automation Rules:

Create a custom field, for example, "Impediment Time."
Use automation rules to set the custom field when an issue is flagged as an impediment and clear it when the impediment flag is removed.
Leverage this custom field in your Control Chart and Time in Status reports.

Hello @Rob Manger ,

You didn't mention which Time in Status app you are using. I certainly hope it is Time in Status by OBSS.

For your case, Time in Status by OBSS has the Any Field Duration report that can do duration measurement for any issue field. If you are looking for Flagged/Unflagged dates to measure the duration of each issue's flag, this report is the exact solution for that.
