Hello Atlassian Team!
Our company use JIRA OnDemand for many projects. One of our customers is going to buy JIRA (OnDemand or Download), but requires to migrate the project from our JIRA URL into his future JIRA.
Data security is the main cause of this migration. Customer needs to have all data only on his side.
Please answer us is it possible? Or do other variants of such migration exist?
Jira doesn't have the feature to backup a certain projects, there's a feature request for that here https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-1604 . Basically you can take full backup of your JIRA ondemand, then import one project to a local instance, then create a backup of the local instance containing the specific project and provide it to the customer.
1. >>then import one project to a local instance,
Could we use trial "Download" Jira for import backup->deleting other projects->export backup ?
2. the page
https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Restricted+Functions+in+Atlassian+OnDemand
says that
"The information on Restoring a Project from Backup does not apply to Atlassian OnDemand."
Is that true? Is there a way to import backup to OnDemand Jira?

1. Yes, you can take the backup of everything, and import some or all of it into a test instance, sanitise it and export it. Doesn't matter if it's an evaluation copy, although, if you have a full licence, that comes with "developer" licences which are intended for this sort of thing.
2. I don't think there is a way to import into OnDemand yet, but you'll want to ask Atlassian support really.

Hi Cate,
As Razaq and Nic mentioned, restoring Single Projects into OnDemand is not directly possible. However you asked
Is there a way to import backup to OnDemand Jira?
Yes! You can import Backups into OnDemand, but only Full backups. You can use the JIRA Import Function to import a Complete JIRA instance, please note that this will Overwrite all your data! So to import a single project, we recommend mirroring your OnDemand locally, then Importing the project locally, then doing a full export and restoring this in OnDemand.
Cheers,
Ivan.

The support people at OnDemand can create a backup of their data and give it to them, before shutting down their instance. The backup can be used to create a Jira on their own site (with a different url of course)

Is it possible for one project right? There are many projects with other customers in our JIRA but this case is required only by one of customers
