Hi Tousif!

At this point, JIRA does not have any official migration tool from Rally. cPrime makes a commercial product that achieves this.

You also always have the option to import data from CSV.

HI Joao

On one page Atlassian says it does not support any 3rd party tools for migration.  I looked at cPrime and it had only a single very negative review?

Hi @Tousif Shaikh

Moving from Rally to Jira comes up often, and it’s completely normal to wonder about the safest way to do it without losing history or breaking links. A few things you may want to think through:

  •  Scope - Do you need just current projects/issues, or the full history (attachments, comments, relationships)?
  • Mapping - Rally and Jira have different fields and hierarchies, so careful mapping avoids data gaps.
  • Continuity - Decide whether to migrate in phases so teams can keep working or cut over all at once.
  • Validation - Always test with a smaller dataset before doing the full migration.

You may want to consider OpsHub Migration Manager (OMM), an Atlassian Solutions Partner that can help you with:

  • No downtime and non-disruptive migration
  • Migrating features, stories, tasks, defects, test cases, and other entities from Rally to Jira
  • Preserving relationships like parent–child, links, and dependencies\
  • Mapping custom fields and statuses between the two systems
  • Maintaining audit trails, timestamps, and user associations

Let us know your specific use case (e.g., number of projects, fields involved), and our migration engineers can help you outline the best strategy to plan this migration.

I dealt with a similar activity this year in May. I built a data model with Excel and another tool to manipulate datasets, extracting them from Rally and importing them into jira, it's not all simple even with certain plugins that promise you, at great price, of the spells they do not do then. this because there is no exact correspondence between the rally and jira objects for example for the releases and for the users who are also teams in rallies, depending on the configuration
