I would like to pre-populate the summary field for a specific issue type in my JIRA project, but for the other issue types in this same project I do not want the summary field to be populated with that information.

Is there a way i can do this?

Hi Allison,

You can achieve that with Default Values plugin for JIRA.

It allows to set defaults for system and custom fields which are next populated on the Create Issue screen.

Default values can be set per project and issue type.

You can read more at https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.gebsun.plugins.jira.defaultvalues

This is only helpful if you are running a Server version of JIRA and not the Cloud Solution as the Default Values plugin for JIRA is Server only.
