How to pull metrics for individual stories?

Grayson Reese August 10, 2021

Hello!

I am collaborating with a customer via a Kanban board in Jira. They are hoping to get some specific metrics to take back to their team.

1) Is there a way to add a date/time stamp to the 'Smart Checklist' marking each time an item was checked off?

2) Is there a way to track the history, time in status (with exact dates), etc. for each individual story? That way we specifically know what issues are taking the longest, not just which phase of the workflow.

Any help is encouraged and welcome! Thanks!

Hi @Grayson Reese ,

You can try Status Time app developed by our team. It provides reports on how much time passed in each status and show status entry dates.

Once you enter your working calendar into the app, it takes your working schedule into account too. That is, "In Progress" time of an issue opened on Friday at 5 PM and closed on Monday at 9 AM, will be a few hours rather than 3 days. It has various other reports like assignee time, status entry dates, average/sum reports by any field(eg. average in progress time by project, average cycle time by issue creation month). And all these are available as gadgets on the dashboard too.

If you are looking for a free solution, you can try the limited version Status Time Free.

Hope it helps.

@Grayson Reese Hi and welcome!

For another ready made solution, Umano's Team Performance Summary can also support your Kanban team by providing historical and current time in status for all of your stories, in addition to a number of other agile success metrics for your design and build workflow.

These other measures will broaden your 'performance lens' by providing observability for your team's speed, progress and consistency.

With Jira alone, we also provide insight into your team's communication and collaboration patterns.  Adding your instance of Slack or Mattermost will supercharge these, if you use these tools.

We can also map the health of your team's review practices if you use Bitbucket.

We're all about a behaviour led approach to growing healthy, powerful teams.

I'm here to answer any other questions you may have about our solution, or feel free to get started on a no credit-card free trial.

Deliver well!

Hi @Grayson Reese

Thanks for your interest in the Smart checklist!

Indeed, at the moment, there’s no way to add a date/time stamp when an item is checked off. Thank you for mentioning it, though, it’s a great feature for sure. It’s been added to our backlog.

If you have any other questions concerning the Smart checklist you are welcome to write directly to our support team at smartchecklist@railsware.com.

Best,

Olena
