How to put ballpark estimates for an epic created in Jira?

We use a dropdown list custom field to choose from a list of ranges.

Thanks for the information,

We are using it same way, Just wanted to know if there are any other ways to do it and if it can be done in different ways, which is the best way to put ballpark estimates.

Any reason why you do not want to do this as with any regular JIRA issue? Add the estimate in either story points or hours? We use story points and estimate the epics when created.

Once user stories that make out the epic is created and estimated, the ballpark estimate is removed from the epic.
