Hi All,
I have an issue with the JIRA work item.
There was a very long description in the user story, and it got deleted (user has no idea how it was deleted) is there any way to recover that deleted data?
Hi @asadiq,
You can find description changes in the story history, but it doesn't save the formatting (for example, tables).
Additionally, you can try using Issue History for Jira (Work Item History) app from my team. It allows you to see the deleted descriptions and revert them if needed.
If you know the exact work item where the description was deleted and needs to be restored, you can use the Issue History Panel view, which can be found in the Activity section of the particular work item after the app installation.
You can use the Field filter to view all changes made to the Description field, particularly. You will be able to view the deleted description and easily revert it.
If you need to revert changes made to multiple work items, it's better to use the Issue History Table view.
Hi Natalia
Thanks very much for your help. My history looks very different from the above images provided by you, for example there is no (Issue History) option available. However, there is just History option available which doesn't offer what is given here.
Not sure, if I need to install any app.

The Issue History option is available only if you install the app(s) mentioned by @Natalia_Kovalchuk_SaaSJet_

Hello @asadiq
That should be in the issue history.
If the whole issue is deleted, then that cannot be retrieved.

Hello @asadiq
Changes to the Description field are typically noted in the issue History. I'm not sure if it will display all the deleted text in the UI. If it does not you could try using the REST API to retrieve the information from the change log for the issue.
