How to reinstall JIRA from scratch but keep the license?

The JIRA installation that my company has is a bit wonky, but luckily it's not yet being used fully.

So I want to perform a reinstallation.

How do I ensure that we keep the license for the number of users (currently 10)?

You can always retrieve your license from my.atlassian.com and apply it after you re-install.

But what do you mean by "a bit wonky" exactly ?

It often fails to connect, searches (e.g. assigning groups to a user) sometimes works, sometimes not, many unexplainable slowdowns...

It has been installed by someone else, but now practically barely usable. So I want to start from scratch.
