How to see a timeline for multiple projects at the same time?

Fatima Ishaque April 21, 2025

I have 3 separate projects where the timeline is visible but I want to have a consolidated view where I can see all my projects on a timeline. How do I go about that?

Hi @Fatima Ishaque,

Welcome and thanks for your question!

If you are on a Jira Premium Plan, you have access to Jira Plans (aka Advanced Roadmaps), that will give you the possibility to display Jira work items from different Jira projects.

If you are on Jira Free or Jira Standard, you will need a Jira App for timelines, for instance our Time Squad App, free up to 10 users (disclaimer: I am the product manager of Time Squad).

Let me know if it helps,

David

Thanks, I added using plans.

Now, I want to see if the epics are behind schedule, on schedule etc. I would like to know if there's a way where the timeline for an epic becomes red in color if it's behind, green if it's on schedule? Is there a way to do this?

On Jira Plans, I couldn't find a way to color by scheduling. You can check "Warn me about scheduling errors in my plan" in the settings, and get the following warning signs for work items that are behind schedule:

And in my experience, I've seen some of our Time Squad customers using 2 different calendars: one in normal color with a JQL showing Epics on schedule, and one in red color with a JQL showing Epics behind schedule (based on the Due date). But that's with Time Squad, not with Jira Plans.

Hi @Fatima Ishaque

If you consider Jira Premium, then it can be done in some way through Jira Plans. This is a nice video to overview the feature.

If you're ok with the third-party apps, you may try Planyway timeline for Jira (free for teams up to 10) that allows you to build multiple-project portfolio on a single timeline. Here's more information on this use-case.
